What’s a Mom To Do?

When they were newborns I worked hard at keeping their diapers changed and their clothes clean.

As babies I sat in front of their high chair making sure more food got into their mouths than on the floor.

As toddlers I taught them how to walk and how to keep their fingers out of light sockets.

As preschoolers I taught them their colors, numbers, and how to sing songs to Jesus.

As school aged kids I sat on the couch under warm blankets and taught them how to read. I bought them each a school desk so they could write and do their math problems in our makeshift classroom in the loft area of our house.

As middle schoolers I got them involved in sports activities and youth group. I made sure they had positive experiences with some phenomenal people who loved the Lord and would be a good influence on them.

As middle & high schoolers I directed them to homeschool coops and some online classes so they could get a well rounded classical education along with freeing me up from teaching highschool math and science. (Phew!)

As adults (and me almost being an empty nester…except summers and holidays wink wink ) I pray. I pray for them to be on the path God has for them. I pray they seek God above all else. I pray they continue to have Godly friendships and that they have the best life possible. I pray they choose the career paths in which they will be fulfilled and God will be glorified.

I can’t control their lives. I can’t control where they end up. I can’t control who they fall in love with. But I can pray. That’s what I need to do…trust God and talk to Him about it all.

My goodness I love these two humans with every fiber of my being. Where has the time gone??? 🥹♥️
