My Husband’s Support

This guy is the reason the salon is becoming a reality.

I have been a licensed cosmetologist since I was 19. I’ve worked in salons all over the country and thoroughly enjoyed it soooo so much.

After Pat and I had kids I had a station in my basement and would cut and color friends’ hair for some side cash.

As the kids got to be preschool age, Pat and I felt the call of God to homeschool. I laid down the scissors to give all of my attention to the kids. Even when times were tight for us financially, Pat wanted me to teach and nurture the kids and trust and allow God to take care of the income. I remember one time after the company Pat worked for closed down, I told him I was going to go make money by working in a salon. Pat looked me in the eyes and asked me if God was LEADING me to do that? Or was the devil PUSHING me to do that out of fear? He said, ”…..because we will NOT be pushed around by the devil. Even if we lose the house and we are on the streets, we are going to follow God.”

As time went on and the kids got a little more independent with their school work, I started doing a few cuts, highlights and colors on the side again. It was just enough to keep me updated and in the swing of things.

And now….here we are sooooo close to “retiring” from homeschooling and Pat could see my need for something fulfilling. Would it be ministy? Get a job at a church? Start a Bible study? Work at the local drugstore? Or….get back in the salon again? He walked in my home office and said, “What if I found an office for you in downtown Warrenton where you could do hair, would you want to do that again? It would combine your love for people and your skills to serve God as you serve people.”

I just looked at him like he had 14 eyeballs in his head! WHAT?!!! That would be tooooo good to be true. Me??? My own salon??! In downtown?!!!! I just couldn’t believe this could or would actually happen.

But Pat made a few phonecalls and next thing you know, we are looking at Suite 17 in downtown Warrenton as the location for the salon! God provided EVERY SINGLE CENT to start it so we wouldn’t be launching in debt. And now we are planning ways we can give not just 10% to ministries, but 20%!!!

This will be a place where people can come in and relax. Slow down. Rest in my chair for an hour or 2 while I cut or color their hair. It will be a place where we can laugh and maybe even shed a tear as we talk and share life’s stories. God will be glorified and honored and I’m praying that He will minister and love on each person that comes through that door so they feel seen, loved, and valued.

Pat and I have the vision and we are so thrilled to be opening Feb 1!!! (If our Lord is willing and the creeks don’t rise… as the saying goes. )

I’m so thankful for God and my man. It just would not be possible or as fulfilling without them!
